Summary
Blackstone said the Energy Transition Partners strategy has generated a 34% net internal rate of return since 1997 as of June 30, and has committed more than $34 billion of equity globally across a range of energy sectors. BETP V began its investment period in June and has already funded three platform companies: Kindle, Fisterra and Viridon. These platforms back management teams developing and operating new power generation assets and electric transmission infrastructure. The fund has also completed three acquisitions centered on energy efficiency, infrastructure resiliency and technology: Flow Control Holdings, a provider of engineered flow-control components used in data center liquid cooling systems; Dresser Utility Solutions, which supplies meters, regulators, pressure-relief valves and infrastructure repair products for gas and water utilities; and DarkVision, a provider of technology-enabled inspection services for critical energy infrastructure.
Since January 2025, BETP has committed more than $11 billion to new equity investments across the energy transition ecosystem. Holdings include equipment manufacturers such as MacLean Power Systems, Delta Star, Power Grid Components, Arlington Industries and Advanced Cooling Technologies, as well as essential services businesses Alliance Technical Group and Shermco, energy data analytics provider Enverus, and natural gas-fired power infrastructure including Hill Top Energy Center, Wolf Summit Energy and Potomac Energy Center.
Blackstone has also been monetizing mature investments held by predecessor funds. Recent transactions include an agreement to sell Aypa Power, which operates a 6 GW North American battery storage portfolio, and the sale of a majority interest in Sabre Industries, a manufacturer of infrastructure products serving power utilities, telecommunications companies and data centers. Blackstone also completed the initial public offering of Legence, a provider of specialty mechanical contracting and engineering services serving data centers and other high-specification commercial and industrial markets.
BETP generally excludes investments involving the ownership and extraction of hydrocarbon reserves. David Foley, Global Head of Blackstone Energy Transition Partners, said the firm sees a "generational opportunity" for experienced investors in the energy transition, adding that BETP is backing management teams with flexible, patient equity capital to expand manufacturing capacity and construct critical energy infrastructure. Blackstone manages more than $1.3 trillion in assets across real estate, private equity, credit, infrastructure, life sciences, growth equity, secondaries and hedge funds.
