Maverick Capital deftly danced around the July carnage that rocked many of its tech and other hedge fund peers. The hedge fund firm headed by Tiger Cub Lee Ainslie III reported a profit in Maverick Fund, its flagship long-short fund, gaining just over 1 percent for the month. As a result, it is up 12.17 percent for the year, according to a hedge fund database.Its long-only funds lost money but avoided suffering sharp losses for the month.
